Paraprofessional/Teacher Aide Approvals
Instruction for becoming a state approved paraprofessional:
1.Complete form ISBE 73-95 Request for Paraprofessional Approval/Approval for Paraprofessional Employment in Title I Positions.
2. A COPY of your high school diploma, high school transcripts, or GED.
3. Please select one of the following for the requirements for State-Approved Paraprofessional:
- Official transcripts showing 30 semester hours of credit in original sealed envelope
- Completed a paraprofessional training program approved by ISBE or ICCB (attach official transcripts or certificate of completion)
Instructions for becoming both State and NCLB approved paraprofessional:
- Complete ISBE Form 73-95 Request for Paraprofessional Approval/Approval for Paraprofessional Employment in Title I Positions
- A copy of high school diploma, high school transcript, or GED (not required for those who hold an Associate Degree or higher).
- Please select one of the following requirements for BOTH State and NCLB Approved Paraprofessional (Title I).
- Official transcripts in original sealed envelope showing 60 semester hours of credit
- Official transcripts showing associate's degree or higher from accredited institution
- Passed the ETS ParaPro assessment (460 or higher). Evidence is the official score report. Please click on the following for more information (ETS ParaPro )and ACT WorkKeys
- Passed the applicable ACT WorkKeys assessments (Applied Mathematics-4, Reading for Information-4, Writing/Business Writing-3,and
acceptable on the Instructional Support Inventory which requires observation of an applicant in a classroom setting). Evidence is the official ACT WorkKeys "Proficiency Certificate for Teacher Assistants." Please click on the following for more information... (ETS ParaPro )and ACT WorkKeys
- State letter of Approval and 300 Professional Training Points. For more information, please click on the following Professional Training Points.
- Please sign and date the form.
